Super Saturday!

It’s hard to believe that there is just 20 more (school) days until the end of the teaching year.

First thing on Monday morning I think I’ll make Count-down Paper Chains with my students so that we can display them on our back wall and count down the days until the end of the year. (I promise to take a photo!)

Not only that, but next week we have our final Prep Transition session (for the 2013 incoming Prep children) and I’ll finally get to meet my students… and find out whether I’m teaching Prep or Prep/1 next year! (That’s actually an important bit of information!) It’s all very exciting. I’ve been involved in 3 out of the 4 Transition sessions this year, and they’re a lovely group of students. Next year will be great!

Don’t forget: I have my ‘sneaky’ Giveaway ending in just a few hours – it’s easy to join in and you can win your choice of one of my paid products on TpT/TN!

However – I do have a fabulous freebie for you today, just in time for Christmas!

A-Z Silly Sentence Sorts Pack & End of Year Freebie

Available on TeachersPayTeachers and Teachers Notebook (coming soon)

Silly Sentence sorts is a collection of 26 alliterative sentences that have been mixed up. When read out loud they sound very ‘silly’ and young students get a great kick out of recognising that it doesn’t make sense!

These would make a great addition to literacy center rotations – younger students can use the complete sentence strip as a reference when rebuilding the mixed-up words, while more capable students can piece it back together using their knowledge of sentence structure.

These look great on coloured card stock, or simply pasted into Literacy workbooks.

I hope that you find a place for them in your resources!

A-Z Silly Sentence Sorts (TN)

Good grief – the end of year (here in the Southern Hemisphere, at least) is fast approaching. Soon we’ll be reflecting on our year-long learning journey.

It is available with Australian spelling and American!

Label the Trick-or-Treaters Pack & Friday Freebie

I’m having so much fun with labelling kits – they’re a great way to reinforce adjectives – and I had to make a set for Halloween using Nikki’s beautiful Halloween Kidlettes clipart. It was an exclusive bundle she released last weekend and it’s just adorable!

The pack contains 6 colour AND black & white labelling mats for trick-or-treaters in fantastic animal costumes.

The black & white mats can be printed and copied (either individually or onto coloured card stock and laminated for re-use. The colour ones could be laminated and used multiple times with whiteboard markers.

Super-cute and super-fun! Just in time for the Halloween holiday season.

You purchase it on TpT and Teachers Notebook.

Label the Superheroes Packs & some freebies!

What a week!

Despite my best intentions, I’ve just been flat-out busy for this first week of term! (And we’re already a week down – only 10 weeks until the end of the year. How quick has the time flown!)

My class had a fabulous, but exhausting, week. We had our school dance where my lovely littlies danced a Barn Dance (waltz), the Heel-and-Toe Polka and the Virginia Reel. (Not to mention the Macarena, the Time Warp, the Nutbush and many, many more dances!) They loved it so much we’ve had repeated classroom dancing sessions dancing the Barn Dance in my room!

And then today we had our House Swimming Carnival and that was the usual mayhem!

Phew! I’m ready to rest!

But not until I share with you 4 new items in my TpT and Teachers Notebook stores. (There are freebies attached to all of them, I promise!)

As a self-confessed comic-book junkie, Nikki’s clipart just stole my heart and whispered to me until I made something with it. My students love labelling mats, so it was just a match made in heaven.

Each labelling activity comes in colour and black and white. I even included pages for Australian and American spelling (and one day I’ll do a post on my thoughts on that!). These look so great printed in colour and laminated. Perfect for a unit on adjectives, as a center, or just for a rainy day!

Ladybug Letter Match & Freebie Friday

Today has been a lovely day – even considering it’s the last day of the holidays. Here in Australia we have one more term until the end of the year, and this term is looking like it’s going to be BRILLIANT.

Next week we have our School Dance (my Prep/1s look gorgeous dancing the Heel-and-Toe Polka, the Virginia Reel and a Waltz – I can’t wait to see them in their special performance) and our House Swimming Carnival (I need to dig out something yellow to wear for my House team this year). My class is also about to hit 1000 blog viewers (they’re very excited about the class party that will follow). We’ll celebrate the official opening of our new school building, celebrate Halloween, Spring, Summer and fit our normal curriculum in, too!

Busy, busy, busy.

But on to some resources that I’ve been making!

This week I completed a new activity pack for Prep (equivalent to Kindergarten) learners. It’s called Ladybug Letter Match (featuring uppercase and lowercase letters), and features cute ladybug clipart by Graphics from the Pond, perfect for the start of Spring – or just for some colour!

This pack includes uppercase and lowercase letter cards for each letter of the alphabet, plus an assortment of recording sheets that can be used alongside the cards. I’m happy to add extra recording sheets if anyone needs specific ones added, too!

The cards can be used for sorting activities, as flashcards, or even for spelling (just print multiple copies of each letter).

Purchase on TpT or Teachers Notebook (Download the preview for a free recording sheet!)

So, technically this is the second freebie in this post (see above), but I just can’t resist!

As we come back from holidays on Monday we do our usual holiday recount writing. Only… doing it the same way as always didn’t seem like the way to start such a great term. We’re going to think about our holidays from a different perspective – using our senses.

Today’s freebie includes 4 writing templates for you to use with your students.

Simple boxes to help students sort (and order) their thoughts – available with 2 or 3 lines.

Students can write their names on the line (so it reads ‘On Stefanie’s Holidays’) or you could reinforce the sight words ‘my’ or ‘the.’ Also, the difference between the 2 pages is in the last box – you have a choice of ‘I touched’ or ‘I felt.’

Click on the image above (or this link) to download these free writing templates!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
