Five for Friday (Oct 2nd, 2015)

Linky_F4FBanner

I’m linking up with Kacey for this week’s Five for Friday!

#1

It’s nearly the end of term holidays here in Melbourne, so I’ve spent a lot of time cuddling this little cutie who just loves snuggling with his humans or any blankets that happen to be lying around!

Slide3

#2

I have an amazing friend in Philedelphia who I swap goodie boxes with about twice a year. Her goodie box for me arrived on Tuesday and it was full to the brim with cookies, tea, candy, Halloween goodies and handmade crafts. I am very humbled and blessed to have such a wonderful friend. Although it’s going to take me a while to eat through these goodies, methinks!

Slide5

#3

I met up with me team leader this week just to have a drink and catch up and we went to Laurent and had these amazing raspberry cheesecakes!

Slide4

#4

Halloween is my absolute favourite holiday of the year (can’t help it, sorry!) and I’ve been busy decking out my planner for October including making these super fun Halloween-themed paperclips. I even made a video tutorial for you all!

Slide6

 #5

I’ve also made a tutorial for DIY Confetti that you can check out on my crafty blog if you’re curious. I think this is just perfect for making your own personalised confetti for all sorts of events (or for school!) and it’s cheap and pretty easy to do, too!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I’m on Term 3 holidays at the moment here in Melbourne, and that’s meant sleep-ins and doing general computer work in bed (because hey, I can, right?!). It also means puppy cuddles. Clearly Benny does not like me working on the computer and this is his way of reminding me that he’s clearly cuter!

Slide2

#2

I made a trip to the local art store AND THEY HAD HALLOWEEN STUFF! *cough*
(Sorry about that. I just can’t help myself! I’m that crazy Australian Halloween fan. It’s just my holiday!)

Slide4

#3

I got conned into having a hit of tennis the other day. I’ve not hit a tennis ball with a tennis racquet in at least 10 years. (And no, I was no magically still good at it!)

Slide1

#4

Mum made these today. Suffice to say, they did not last long.

Plus, she didn’t like the hot pink icing, whereas, I? LOVED it!

Slide3

#5

Got out some paint today and just had a play. Hot pinks and oranges and blacks, oh my!

Slide5

That is a snippet of my week. If you’re curious to find out more of the goings on in my life this month, I’ve been blogging every day on my crafty blog the Noveltea Corner as part of Blog-tember. There’s been a lot of fun things going on!

Until next time, my friends, have a fabulous Friday!

I’ve been working on designing some journaling cards for my Project Life projects using digital stamps by Kellie Stamps.

Slide1

#2

Some fun happy mail arrived, in the form of traveller’s notebook inserts from HelloTodayCreate.

Slide2

#3

Wednesday and Thursday were our school concert notes. Even the teachers had a number. We were minions. I looked ridiculous. I guess that was the point. 😛

Slide3

#4

The star prop of our concert – a full size TARDIS. Hoping the school doesn’t get rid of it. No other school in our area can (currently) claim to have a Time Machine, right?! (Plus, I want to turn it into a fun reading nook for the kiddos.)

Slide4

#5

It was my birthday on Thursday. I’ve had lots of lovely birthday wishes and I treasure each one. However, between work and concert I don’t actually think I celebrated my birthday and by Friday I really didn’t feel like it either. It’s been kind of a non-event.

But there was cheesecake with Mum and Dad at about 11pm on the day. That’s gotta count for something, right?!

If you follow me on Instagram (or over at The Noveltea Corner) you may know that I’m on the Design Team for the very lovely Anna Brim (aka Mrs Brimbles) and I received my very first box of goodies from her to play with which is amazing. This is a sneak peek. I’ll be uploading an unboxing video this weekend of what else is inside.

Next week is our school concert (over Wed/Thurs night). I’m currently brain dread. BUT. I do love our major prop for the whole night! THE TARDIS! (And yes, it lights up!)

Five for Friday (August 14, 2015)

Linky_F4FBanner

Happy Friday, friends! Here’s this week’s random five things!

#1

Since when did Kit-Kat start putting stuff on their packaging?! (Doesn’t matter, both of these breaks perfectly suit me!) Also, tea in a double-wall glass tumbler = perfection.

#2

Total geek moment – found a Batgirl hoodie and couldn’t pass it up!

7236

#3

Pinterest inspired art. (Need to track down the original link.) We did these with the kiddos during Investigations and now have a MASSIVE display all around our central/shared space. These are my more mini-versions done at home!

This appeared in the staffroom at lunch one day. No idea why!

Five for Friday – July 17th

Linky_F4FBanner

I’m linking up again, so here’s a sneak peak at my week!

#1

You guys know by now how much I love to decorate my planner! I really love this week’s layout (it’s full of writing at the current moment!) and I have a blog post up here talking about the process of putting it together.

Slide1

#2

This week our applied focus for maths was capacity. We talked about full, half-full and empty, and then read Who Sank the Boat by Pamela Allen. In groups students made a boat out of foil and estimated how many Unifix cubes it would take to completely fill (and sink) their boat.

We tested it out, of course.

(I couldn’t tell if they were more excited about the big number of cubes they all fit or the fact that their boats sank?!)

Slide3

#3

We’re in the middle of Winter here in Australia. It’s been quite chilly this week (for us).

Slide2

#4

Today we had a Curriculum Day for Staff Professional Development. During our lunch break our Wellbeing School Improvement Team put on a Christmas in July lunch for us in the staffroom. It was a lovely surprise!

Slide5

#5

Over on my creative blog, I’ve started a new series on Friday – Fauxligraphy Friday. These are all words/phrases I’ve hand lettered and then digitised. Check out this week’s collection. Feel free to leave suggestions for what you might like to see in the future!

Five for Friday (July 10th)

Linky_F4FBanner

Okay, so it IS Saturday here in Melbourne, but things kind of got away from me last night, so apologies for the late Five for Friday post!

#1

Those of you who’ve followed my blog for a while may know that I’m a BIG comic book nerd. (And proud!) However, I do not video game – because frankly, I’m useless at it. BUT, due to the modern wonders of technology, last weekend I was able to watch a very good friend of mine, from Philadelphia, play Arkham Knight and boy, it was like watching a mini movie! (Okay, so it was kind of long, but, it was super fun and we were able to chat about it at the same time, so I thought it was kind of cool!)

Slide1

#2

On Tuesday my Nonno turned 82. He’s fabulous and hilarious and this is how he chose to utilise the crocheted blanket my Mum made for him. <3

Slide2

#3

I was in the city yesterday and had a bit of time to wander around and so I stopped by (briefly) to The Art of Dr. Seuss gallery at the Block Arcade. It’s only small, but it’s amazing and I definitely want to go back and spend some more time there.

Slide3

#4

The reason for being in the city yesterday?

Catching up with these amazing Victorian teachers! It was so lovely to have lunch and chat – for hours – with Jemima (Jem’s Bright Buttons), Paula (Paula’s Place), Chantelle (Miss Jacob’s Little Learners) and Bec (Stars and Wishes). These ladies are simply amazing, and I hope to catch up with them again soon!

Slide4

#5

Over on my crafty blog (Noveltea Corner), I’ve started up a regularly Friday post – Fauxligraphy Friday – which will feature seven samples every week of my hand lettering practice. Simply click the links above, or the image before to view the first week’s collection!

006_SingBc

I’m back to school on Monday (man, the holiday breaks go by quickly!) and I hope to have some fun classroom posts for you soon!

Until then, happy weekend, friends!

Five for Friday (5th June, 2015)

Linky_F4FBanner

I’m linking up with Kacey for this week’s Five for Friday linky party!

#1

I had my nails done again this weekend. Same colour as last time, but added a fun foil detail just for interest. Loving these colours!

Slide1

#2

Every week in Investigations, we have a fine motor table. This week we were exploring letters (using Victorian Modern Cursive font) with glass beads and mirrors. What started as letter practise, turned into word practise with some of my kiddos deciding they could go that one step further!

Slide2

#3

This week we read a favourite picture storybook – Herman and Rosie. If you’ve never read it, I highly recommend it. It’s just a beautiful story about inevitable friendship set amidst a big city (New York, for the curious). We also did a fun book craft following it, creating a big city scene with newspaper buildings on dark cover paper and adding our Herman and Rosie characters to the rooftops!

Slide3

#4

Today was Happy Hats, Headbands and House T-Shirts day at school while we celebrated the letter/sound /h/. These are my Minnie ears that I wear during Guided Reading/small group time so students know that my attention is focused on my small group. Today they got a full-day work-out (along with funny looks from the staff when I walked into the staffroom with them still on!).

Slide4

#5

Last week I finally got my new blog – The Noveltea Corner – up and running. It’s especially for my planners, craft hobbies, Youtube channel and Etsy store. I’d love for you to stop by, say hello and follow along with my crafty journey. (I’d also love for you to link me to your craft blogs if you have one!)

Five for Friday – May 29th

Linky_F4FBanner

#1

Last weekend I knuckled down and actually managed to Project Life the entirety of May (up to last Sunday) in my 6×8 album. 18 pocket pages done! I feel really proud of myself! I used Studio Calico and Messy Box supplies, along with some ephemera I’d collected throughout the month.

If you’re interested in following my crafty life, I’ve started up a brand new blog – The Noveltea Corner. It’s only new, but I’d love to see you over there!

Slide5

#2

A very pretty sunset this week. Love the colours!

Slide1#3

I found this magazine this week – it’s a book for paper lovers. Everything inside it – except for a short introduction section – is PAPER. Notepaper, craft paper, paper dolls, envelopes, stickers, banners, ephemera/cut-outs, etc. If you’re of a crafty-mindset, you’d love this!

Slide2#4

One of the jobs I loathe, as a teacher, is pencil sharpening. NOT ANYMORE! This little beauty arrived yesterday and it is my new favourite thing! Sharpening a whole class set of grey leads and coloured pencils took far less time, and I didn’t end up with ridiculous blisters! Total WIN in my book!

Yes, it’s a bit pricey and yet? For the sake of my sanity? Completely worth it!

Slide3#5

A few weeks back I got a die-cutting machine, and now I’m slightly obsessed. How cute are these stitched borders and the PICKET-FENCE?! I’m already plotting ways to use these for the classroom! I foresee some fun crafts in the future!

Slide4

That’s all from me! Don’t forget to head back over to Doodlebugs Teaching to join in the Five for Friday fun!

Five for Friday (April 10)

Linky_F4FBanner

Hi all, I’m joining in another week of Five for Friday, hosted by the lovely Doodlebugs Teaching!

#1

Well, it’s the end of the last week of the holidays for me, but I’ve been fortunate enough to spend some quality time with this little cutie! Benny has had quite the busy last two weeks, making new friends (or, at least, learning how to), lots of travelling over Easter, and lots of cuddles. And yes, that black shadow of a thing lying against one of my best friends is Benny. He’s awfully difficult to take photos of sometimes, but it was kind of cute he had his teddy with him!

Slide1#2

I’ve started a new online course on Hand Lettering over at Studio Calico, and so far I’m loving it. These were a few practise samples I did the other night!

Slide2#3

I finally found (a tiny amount) of creative energy for my TpT store, and came up with this simple little activity to practise common nouns with early years students. Check it out in my store (both images link to the product).

Slide1Untitled-3

#4

How cute is that polka dot desk mat?! I’ve been eying it off for a few weeks and finally bit the bullet and bought it the other day. It’s so bright and colourful and it makes me happy!

Slide3

#5

I’ve had a few craft ideas on my to-do list these holidays and I’ve been slowly ticking them off, but this is one that I had a go at today (inspired by the Marbled Clay Ring Dish DIY from A Beautiful Mess). I really love how my little dish came out. Also, being one to loathe wasting scraps of FIMO clay, I use the excess trim from the bowl to make a matching bead necklace! I love that EVERY bead is completely different, despite being made from exactly the same materials!

Slide4

Happy Friday, my friends! I hope you have an excellent weekend!
